Divine Ikubor, born on the 1st of May, 2000, popularly known by the stage Moniker of Rema, is a talented Nigerian musician who raps, sings, and writes songs. He first gained attention with his hit song "Dumebi" in 2019. That same year, he joined D'Prince's record label, Jonzing World.

Rema's music career really took off with his 2022 single "Calm Down". The song was so popular that it even got a remix with American singer Selena Gomez! EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION 

Rema, whose real name is Divine Ikubor, (born May 1st 2000), was born into a family that believes in Christianity in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. He developed a passion for music at a young age, singing and rapping while in secondary school. He attended Ighile Group of Schools in Edo State for both his primary and secondary education. Rema Hasn't been to or Graduated from a Tertiary Institution yet. 

Rema faced a difficult time in his life when he lost his father and elder brother. He was left in the care of his mother, who raised him alone. Despite the challenges, Rema's love for music continued to grow, and he eventually became the talented artist we know today.


MUSIC CAREER 

Rema started making music in churches with his friend Alpha P in 2018. He posted a video on Instagram rapping over a song called "Gucci Gang" by D'Prince  saw the video and was impressed, so he flew Rema to Lagos to offer him a record deal.

In 2019, Rema signed with Jonzing World, a record label owned by Don Jazzy. He released his first EP, called "Rema", which was very successful and reached number 1 on Apple Music in Nigeria. The music video for one of his songs, "Dumebi", was released on May 21, 2019, and has over 70 million views on YouTube!

In the summer of 2019, one of Rema's songs was included on a playlist made by former US President Barack Obama. In 2020, his songs were featured on the FIFA 21 video game soundtrack. In 2021, Rema became a brand ambassador for Pepsi, a popular soft drink, along with his label mate Ayra Starr.

After signing with Jonzing World in 2019, Rema released his first EP, "Rema". He then released two more EPs and his debut album "Rave & Roses" in March 2022. The album had 16 tracks and featured famous artists like Chris Brown and Yseult.

The album was a huge success, with 10 songs charting on the US Billboard Afrobeats Chart. His single "Calm Down" became a hit, especially after Selena Gomez recorded a remix. The remix reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and broke many world music records.

Rema's songs have been streamed over 1 billion times worldwide, and he has won many awards, including the MTV Video Music Award for Best Afrobeats Video. He released a new version of his album with extra tracks, which became the first African album to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify. In October 2023, Rema released a new EP called "Ravage" and performed at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in Paris, France.
